The Well Dressed Home From Anthropologie
July 23, 2014
I don't know about you, but when I walk into Anthropologie I immediately relax and go to my happy place, quite content to peruse the clothing, accessories and other finds at a leisurely pace. (It also helps if I am alone and have a toasty warm latte in my hand- the recipe for my perfect alone time.)
But what really gets me is the home section of the store. Oh, how I adore poking around the perfectly placed piles of coffee table books, whimsical dish towels and adorable little doo-dads, sniffing the fancy candles, and fondling the fine linens. If you haven't dedicated much time to exploring Anthro's expansive collection of items for the home, 1) I feel you, because it is so easy to get distracted by all the cute tops and dresses, or spend an hour rifling through the little sale closet, and then you're too exhausted to bother, but 2) Listen. It's totally worth it. Check out the completely amazing, drool-worthy and envy-inducing furniture, bedding and kitchen items at Anthropologie. Trust me, you'll never look at sad, standard measuring cups the same way again, knowing that you can get infinitely cuter ones.
For the longest time I didn't realize that the furniture I saw in Anthropologie stores was for sale; I assumed it was for display purposes. But all of those overstuffed couches, chic occasional chairs and enormous, rustic dining tables are available on Anthropologie.com, and often in expanded color, fabric and size options. I mean, who doesn't want a purple velvet sofa in their living room? Its basically begging you to take naps and/or glamorous selfies.
Every item of Anthropologie housewares shares the same out-of-the-box, cookie cutter-busting style. Nothing here feels blah or mass market, but rather like a well-curated collection hand-picked by the most fashionable person in the world. By adding even small touches you can easily set your home apart. This is fast and easy to do with items such as artwork, picture frames, and throw pillows with personality.
If your home isn't in need of a new purple velvet sofa, use Anthropologie as your gifting go-to. Any hostess will delight in a treat you've selected, and it needn't be a budget-buster, either. Think hand-painted planters with a succulent plant, a set of stemless wine glasses with a bottle of bubbly, or a vintage-inspired apron for a budding cook. And it goes without saying that you are certainly entitled to pick up a few new cute and unique finds for yourself, too, while you're at it.
Take my word for it. Treat yourself to your beverage of choice and a quiet hour to hit Anthropologie for some major home design inspiration and rejuvenation.
