Shoes for Active Kids at Shoe Mart
July 17, 2014
Since 1956, the Shoe Mart has been bringing families shoes and footwear for the whole family. My favorite section right now is shoes for active kids! I've got three of them and it can be a trick to find shoes within my budget to meet the needs of all of their activities. When you are buying kids shoes take in mind that they have growth spurts. So get shoes that are a little bigger and not spot on. If their toes are already hitting the end of the shoe, then they will grow out of them in a months time. This can be tricky to avoid with some styles of shoes but know that it's an important step to take to insure you get the most for your money.
Vibram Five Finger, $75
I am told by my oldest that these "epically cool shoes" are for riding a skateboard, running, going jogging and riding bikes. Just how he knows this, I don't know but he has been asking for a pair. They are styled so that they fit your foot and toes like a glove fits your hand. I am not sure how that would feel on your feet but I hear that you can get a better grip on the ground and thus better traction when you are running. I am also told that they give your feet the opportunity to breathe a little better than normal shoes. They come in a variety of colors and their unique design is supposed to hug the foot so that youngsters have "the best bare foot experience. Make sure you double check sizes on these before buying since they are not the standard sizing for shoes.
Reebok Kids Ziglite shoes for boys and girls, starting at $60 My boys flipped out over these shoes
. It was the zig zag that they loved. My son who has a high arch said that these shoes felt really good on his feet. Normally we have to do a little adjusting but not with these shoes. Once they broke them in a little bit, he was good to go and their were no complaints. Since he was getting them, we grabbed some for our younger son and daughter too.
