Fun for the Young Foodie at Williams-Sonoma
July 17, 2014
I'm a huge fan of Williams-Sonoma. From the very first time that I entered the store, I knew I would be hooked! It was the holidays and they were sampling Peppermint Hot Cocoa. I think I bought six containers and all the little peppermint accessories they had too.
It's easy to get hooked! Not only do they have an amazing blog that I visit weekly, they also have a killer social media feed that will keep you hungry and inspired to cook.
We love food in our family and cooking as a family is a big deal. One of the things I love is that they have so many kid friendly tools that make cooking easy and fun. If you love cooking with your kids, then you will want to grab a few supplies. Here's my list of fun things for the young foodie that are in our family's kitchen:
Aprons Every cook needs a great apron
and these from Wiliams-Sonoma are durable and fit kids perfectly. They have them in styles for boys and girls.
Spatulas I love this set of spatulas
because they come in different sizes which means various ages can use them. They have handles that are easy to hold, plus they are easy to clean.
Fun Cookie Cutters and Baking Supplies
We have a ton of different sets of Williams-Sonoma Cookie Cutters.
Our biggest collection is the Star Wars baking sets. The cookie cutters are easy to use for kids, plus they are great for stamping the shapes onto bread for sandwiches or before toasting. The pancake shapes also are great for tracing! We've used them many times for this purpose.
Cooking with kids is a great way to teach math, science and the all important skill of following directions. I have a couple sets of measuring spoons
and measuring cups
so each child can help as well as a set of the larger measuring cups
Mandoline Slicers These are perfect for kids
! There is a handle to hold/grip and if you have them keep their hand on that, they won't cut their hand on the blade. This one has a variety of attachments so you can have them help slice cheese, veggies and peeled fruit. All the kids do is slide the handle back and fourth.
This is a must! If kids get to make choices, they tend to want to eat the fruits of their labor just a little bit more. You can find a variety of family and kid friendly cookbooks
, but we love this one for kids' lunches. It has a number of recipes that are perfect for school lunches, fun dinners and snacks.
